Large open offices, or open spaces, have their origins in the 1950s in the United States. Sometime in the 1960s, the trend spread to Western Europe and after the fall of communism, it began to appear in our country as well. However, it is known that our Tomáš Baťa already used some elements of these open offices, specifically for his designers in the office building in Zlín. The big open space boom then came to us after 2000. The main reason was cost reduction. Large open offices are more advantageous for companies than several small “private” offices.
Today, these offices have many supporters and opponents. As it usually happens everywhere, you can never please everyone. However, a clear advantage of open spaces is the fact that they are ideal workplaces for team collaboration. An open office provides better space for communication and social contact. It also removes differences – managers are directly “in the center of action”, part of a large team. And as mentioned above, large open offices reduce the company’s overall operating costs.
The disadvantage is usually less satisfied employees. For some, working in an open space can be very disruptive, making it difficult to concentrate. They don’t have their personal space. Higher sickness rates and lower work efficiency are also logical. These are quite significant reasons not to create an open space. Or… how about building an open space office with a human face?

There’s a solution for almost everything. So if you have spaces where it’s not possible to do anything other than an open space, adjust it to everyone’s satisfaction. Practical partitioning will serve you well. These are partition or sliding walls. They can fulfill both optical and thermal or sound insulation, fire protection, security functions, etc.
And if you don’t have that much space, you can also use smaller desktop panels. They don’t require major modifications. You install them on desks and employees can use them as a bulletin board for photos or notes. There are really many options available today. Just contact us and together we will select the most suitable partitioning tailored exactly to your needs.
