Café and Restaurant RESTOVNA

The established restaurant with an adjacent social hall in Jíloviště near Prague never lacked customers. However, the owners wanted more than just to feed and serve drinks to people. We helped them renovate the space and create a pleasant modern restaurant and café – a welcoming place for meeting and relaxation.

Project Assignment RESTOVNA

Collaboration with the owner began from the first contact in mutual trust and maximum cooperation. Her vision for the new interior design was clear – a complete fit-out of the existing restaurant and the creation of a new café in the location of the former social hall.

The goal was to offer people a wider and higher-quality range of gastronomic services and also a pleasant and cozy interior – comfortable upholstered armchairs, plenty of greenery combined with natural wood, and separate zones for more privacy. To create a place where entire families will want not only to have lunch and sit with coffee and desserts but also to stay in a pleasant environment. A place where people will want to spend their time, chat with friends, read a book, or entertain children in the children’s corner.

WOOD in the Leading Role

The restaurant operates in two areas, a room with a bar and an adjoining dining room. The café, built on the site of the former social hall, has its own separate entrance from the outside.

In both the restaurant and café, wood plays the main role; you will find it on the floors, paneling, and partition walls. Partition walls with storage spaces and planters with live greenery are custom-made. They visually separate individual zones and simultaneously make the space cozier. Wooden slats serve as wall and bar counter cladding and also fulfill an acoustic function. Long textile curtains and drapes complete the homely environment, complemented by the omnipresent fresh greenery.

Restaurant

The total capacity of the restaurant is 50 people. Both rooms, the bar and the dining room, are connected by a single unifying element – natural wood. The interior, with its wooden flooring, paneling slats, and wooden furniture with upholstered seats, feels very pleasant and homely. The bar’s equipment also includes a traditional pizza oven.

Café

The café has a capacity of 30 people. Its main feature is the bar area with a bar counter clad in wooden slats. Next to the bar counter, guests will find a chalkboard with the current menu. Partition walls naturally divide the interior into several intimate zones where you can chat or relax undisturbed. Parents with small children can use the children’s corner, equipped so that young children can play safely. The café also includes a reading corner equipped with a small library.

Design and Implementation Process of Restovna

The entire design and implementation process followed the following plan:

• Initial meeting – clarifying basic ideas about the interior style and technical equipment needs.
• Creation of a mood board.
• Preparation of the floor plan.
• Creation of visualizations.
• Selection of materials and furniture.
• Implementation – in collaboration with the company Dřevodílo.
• Handover of the completed work.
• After successfully implementing the café and restaurant, we designed and implemented 10 designer rooms in the adjacent guesthouse during the second phase of collaboration.
